Cherkasy (Ukrainian: Черкаси) is an administrative center of the Cherkasy Urban Hromada (community), Cherkasy Raion (district) and Cherkasy Oblast (region) of Ukraine.

The city is located on the right bank of Dnipro (Dnieper) River (specifically at the Kremenchuk Reservoir), about 200 km (124 mi) south of Kyiv.
Cherkasy is the cultural, educational and industrial centre of Cherkasy Oblast and Ukraine's Central Economic Region.
Educational institutions in Cherkasy include the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University and the Cherkasy State Technological University.
